Product Details
Each eyeshadow is 0.03oz/0.85 g in volume. The Marvel Eternals palette retails for $65 at Sephora, Ulta, and Nordstrom, in addition to Urban Decay’s website.
Packaging
Keeping in theme with it’s namesake, the Marvel Eternals palette is adorned with a dark blue sky and stars, evoking the vastness and the majesty of space.
Upon opening the Eternals eyeshadow palette, you’re greeted with 3D pop-up art inspired by characters from the film. This first layer of packaging has a small notch at the bottom that opens on to the shades themselves. While the 3D pop-up art is a fun touch, it’s slightly encumbering to have to open two layers of packaging whenever you want to use your palette.
Shades
The Marvel Eternals palette contains 15 colorful matte and shimmer shades. Each shade bears a heroic name inspired by the latest film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Ranging from sweet pink and blue duochrome shimmers to classic neutrals, the Marvel palette offers near infinite possibilities to mix and match shades.
Mattes
- Devotion – Light brown-pink matte – Cool-toned and blendable, Devotion is more pigmented than it appears. Brushed across the upper crease or center of the eyelid, Devotion serves as a solid base for either simple or complex looks.
- Astrolabe – Warm brown with gold micro-shimmer – While Astrolabe contains micro-shimmer pigments, it looks entirely matte after application. Astrolabe pairs well with Devotion, Grain of Sand, Famous, Sonic Boom, Immortal Warrior, Strength, and In the Shadows, making it the most flexible shade in the Marvel Eternals palette.
- Loyalty – Burnt orange matte – Loyalty is very blendable and beginner-friendly. Many orange eyeshadows turn brown once applied, but Loyalty looks exactly the same swatched as it does in the pan, making it a rare shade. Pair it with Sonic Boom for an alluring warm-toned look.
- Grain of Sand – Light brown matte – The ultimate neutral brown matte, Grain of Sand isn’t qutie as pigmented as the other mattes in the Marvel Eternals palette. However, it’s still easy to work with and lasts all day.
- Famous – Brown brick matte – Slightly warm toned, Famous is pigmented without any fallout. Pairs well with its fellow matte shades as well as Immortal Warrior and Strength.
Shimmers
- Cosmic Blast – Ivory with gold micro-shimmer – Cosmic Blast is not very pigmented. However, it contains a lot of glitter, making it a stunning addition to any eye look. I’d recommend layering it over a white matte shade to make it more pronounced. You could also wear it on its own to create a delicate effect.
- Family is Eternal – Light pink with copper micro-shimmer – While this shade looks pink in the pan, it looks more copper-toned once applied. Pairs well with Sonic Boom.
- Immortal Warrior – Gold with green and gold micro-shimmer – Just like Family is Eternal, Immortal Warrior is a blendable metallic shade that gives a day or night look some extra personality. Immortal Warrior looks beautiful placed in the corner of the eyelid.
- Strength – Copper with gold micro-shimmer – Strength is my favorite shade in the palette. It’s very pigmented, goes on smoothly, and lasts for hours. Strength pairs well with Sonic Boom and Famous.
- In the Shadows – Matte black with gold micro-shimmer – Dramatic and feisty, In The Shadows is a sleek, buildable shimmer. Apply one layer to create a charcoal look or multiple layers for more saturation.
- Merciful – Emerald shimmer with silver and gold micro-shimmer – Merciful’s silver and gold micro-shimmer allows it to pair well with both cool and warm-toned shadows, making it one of the more versatile shades in this palette.
- Genius – Iris purple shimmer with blue and pink micro-shimmer – Genius is a stunning shade that is buildable and beginner friendly. Apply one layer for a delicate shine, or layer to create a more vivid hue.
- Soaring – Ultramarine blue metallic – Pigmented but patchy, Soaring is by far the most difficult color to work with in the entire palette. It’s virtually unblendable, and requires a lot of patience to create even a simple look. Even worse, it has a lot of fallout. I’d avoid this shadow or substitute with a blue shade from a different palette.
- Protector – Burnt red with green shift and green micro-shimmer – Protector makes up for it’s lack of pigment with a beautiful duochrome shine. I’d recommend layering over a matte eyeshadow so you can fully appreciate it’s beauty.
- Sonic Boom – Brick red matte with gold micro-shimmer – Stunning, blendable, and creamy, Sonic Boom is one of the most beautiful shades in this palette. It would look great in either a subtle day look or a bold look for a night out.
Formula
Pros: Overall, the shadows in the Marvel Eternals palette are blendable and beginner-friendly. While some shimmers like Strength are highly pigmented, the majority are very buildable which gives more flexibility.
Cons: The color Soaring is a standout negative in this palette. It is patchy, overly pigmented, and has a lot of fallout.
Wear Time
I originally purchased this palette to wear during EDC, an all-night Electronic Dance Music festival. Since I’d be dancing and moving around a lot, I didn’t expect my eyeshadow to last more than 6 hours. I was blown away- not only did my eyeshadow last more than 12 hours even with me being physically active, it looked nearly perfect. Results were replicated over 3 nights with various shades from the palette.
No matter which shades you choose, your eyeshadow will last all day (or night) long!
Overall Impressions
Urban Decay’s Marvel Eternals Palette offers something for everyone. Even if colorful eyeshadow isn’t your cup of tea, the Marvel Eternals palette contains enough neutral mattes and shimmers to create daytime and office-appropriate looks.
Ultimately, the Urban Decay Marvel Eternals Palette is a great choice for anyone that wants to begin experimenting with colorful eyeshadow but still wants a palette that includes a few solid neutrals. It’s also a top pick if you need your makeup to last several hours with minimal movement.
