Known for their modern design and vibrant amenities, Aloft Hotels have become a popular choice for travelers worldwide. Nestled in the suburbs of Kansas City, the Aloft Leawood-Overland Park is no exception. Not only has it maintained the high standards of the Aloft brand, it has added a dash of Kansas charm.

The Aloft Leawood-Overland Park Hotel’s staff are fantastic. They’re attentive, friendly, and go out of their way to ensure every guest feels welcome. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a Marriott Bonvoy member, they’ll make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.

Room

King Bed in a Top Floor King room

The Aloft Leawood-Overland Park offers a variety of room types, including standard rooms, suites, and accessible rooms. Each room contains a 42″ LCD TV, a plush, platform bed, and a connectivity station for charging all of your devices. The chic and modern decor creates a lively, energetic ambiance.

TV, couch, and desk

I was especially pleased that the Aloft Hotel provided a desk in our room. As someone who often works while traveling, it’s important that I have the space to do so (and enough outlets for my work equipment!) Thankfully, the Aloft Hotel provided all that and more.

Our shower was spacious and modern. Oddly enough, the best part about the bathroom was the Aloft’s shampoo and conditioner. Apparently, the Aloft brand has a special contract with Drybar that gives them a unique, custom line of shampoos and conditioners. I have to say, the Aloft’s shampoo and conditioner were the best I’ve ever used! Unfortunately, neither are available for consumer purchase.

Sadly, we had an issue with our shower during the first night of our stay. Apparently our room’s hot water heater was broken! However, the Aloft Hotel was very kind and moved us to a new room immediately. They even provided us with a gift bag of snacks to apologize for the inconvenience.

Another pleasant surprise was the sheer amount of storage in our room. Instead of the traditional closet, the Aloft Hotel provided a wooden organizer containing a singular closet rod and several shelves. We were easily able to fit our hanging and folded clothes along with our other essentials.

Additionally, extra storage space was provided behind our bed, alongside a handy iron/ironing board!

Amenities

Breakfast bar and snack station

The Aloft Leawood-Overland Park Hotel has a unique dining concept called Re:fuel. It’s a 24/7, grab-and-go eatery where you can find everything from snacks to mix-and-match meals. They also offer a small selection of warm breakfasts if you’re in a rush. Of course, if you prefer a sit-down meal, there are plenty of restaurants within walking distance.

Also available on the premises is a cocktail lounge called the WXYZ Bar. With it’s cool, laid-back environment, the bar is the perfect place to enjoy a signature cocktail or live music.

Need to break a sweat? The Aloft’s 24-hour gym is equipped with a wide variety of cardio equipment as well as dumbbells, a cable machine, and two adjustable benches.

The Aloft Leawood-Overland Park also has a modern indoor pool within its premises. Disappointingly, the pool was undergoing renovations during our stay so we were unable to pay it a visit.

Location

Situated in the upscale Park Place outdoor shopping district, the Aloft Leawood-Overland Park gives guests direct access to over 40 restaurants and boutiques. The hotel is also located in close proximity to the Overland Park Convention Center and Sprint World Headquarters, which is a boon for corporate travelers. For leisure seekers, the Museum at Prariefire and the Overland Park Botanical Gardens are just a short drive away.

Overall Impressions

Hands-down, the best part of the Aloft Leawood-Overland Park was it’s amazing location. The Park Place shopping district is elegant and beautiful. My fiancé and I thoroughly enjoyed walking to local restaurants. It was a nice bonus that the weather was perfect during our stay!

We also enjoyed the hotel’s modern decor and plentiful amenities. I was impressed by the variety of workout equipment offered as well as the quality of drinks from the WXYZ Bar.

However, I’m not sure I would return for a second stay. While my visit was lovely, my room at the Aloft Leawood-Overland Park was considerably more expensive than other comparable hotels in the same general area, such as the Element Overland Park and the Home2 Suites by Hilton Overland Park.

As enjoyable as the Aloft’s amenities are, they don’t make up for the difference in price. I could have stayed at a more luxurious hotel downtown for the same rate.

Nevertheless, whether you’re in town for business, leisure, or a bit of both, the Aloft Leawood-Overland Park won’t disappoint!
